SHIPPING QUESTIONS

How much will you charge to ship my order?

NO SHIPPING COST! As long as you live in the lower 48 US, shipping is free as long as you spend $50.00. If your order is less than $50.00 a small $15.00 shipping fee will be added to your order. How great is that? You got a great price on that light fixture you always wanted and you don’t have to spend any extra on shipping.

Do you ship to Hawaii and Alaska? What about international locations?

We ship to Hawaii and Alaska. Orders to Hawaii and Alaska do have a shipping surcharge. This is a general shipping estimate.  QDL has the right to change the shipping amount.  We will contact you if we are not able to ship your item for the amount calculated by the web site.  You will have the opportunity to cancel your order if this is charge is not agreeable. We also ship to Canada. See above rules for Alaska and Hawaii.  For shipments outside the US, the customer is responsible for paying for all duties and custom clearance fees. In addition non US orders will incur additional shipping surcharges. Contact our customer service team to obtain quotes on duties and custom fees. We can ship to other international locations on a case by case basis. Again, contact our customer service team for specific cost information.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Every item is in stock in Hillside, IL. We ship all orders within 5 days.  We ship via FedEx Ground. A tracking number will be entered on your order.

Most orders are shipped Fedex Ground. This type of delivery service usually takes around five business days. Please note that FedEx Ground is not shipped with a signature required for delivery. If you would like your order to be shipped with a signature required, please note that request in the comments section on your order. Please note that Quality Discount Lighting cannot be held responsible for missing deliveries once Fedex indicates that the shipment has been delivered. We do have some fixtures that are too large and too fragile to be shipped via FedEx. These large items will be shipped via common carrier (truck) and will generally take 2-3 weeks to arrive. We will notify you with an email if this is the case.

Do you offer express shipping?

Yes. For items that are in stock, we can arrange for express shipping. If you require express shipping, please state in the comments field of your order that you would like to request rush delivery and understand that additional charges will apply. We will contact you with a price quote for the express shipping and request your authorization for these additional charges.

SHIPPING METHOD

We use Fedex Ground/Home Delivery for most shipping. Depending on the value of your order we may require signature service for the shipment. This will be up to our discretion and will depend on the item(s) ordered but in general we will require signatures on any items valued $125 or more. If you would like to waive signature service you must do so in writing in the notes section while placing the order, or e-mailing sales@qualitydiscountlighting.com at least 24hrs prior to the shipment of your order. Please note that waiving the signature requirement will preclude you from claiming non-receipt of the items. Any other claims of damage will be honored if reported within 7 days of receipt.

Depending on the size of the items on your order we may need to ship via Truck/LTL service. This will be to our discretion and will depend on each individual order. The LTL trucking service we provide free of additional charge with orders over $35 will include a standard Residential Curbside Delivery.

RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE DELIVERY

Residential Curbside Delivery includes delivery to the closest point that a full sized tractor-trailer can deliver to your home. With this shipping method, once your order arrives at the local terminal, the freight company will call you to schedule a delivery appointment. The carrier will then deliver your order once the appointment is set. Someone will need to be present at the delivery time to unload the boxes from the truck and sign for the material. This is the most convenient delivery method. In general, if you'd like your order to be delivered to your home, you should select this method.

What is included in Curbside Delivery?

Our Residential Curbside Delivery includes curbside delivery to your home or business address. This means the truck will get as close as possible to your driveway and will bring the freight to the back of the truck. The driver is not responsible for unloading and are prohibited from assisting in the process other than removing banding and shrink wrap from the skids. If you live on a non-public road, in deep woods, have low power lines, or a gravel driveway, please call us to discuss your delivery location so we can communicate these challenges to the trucking company in advance.

There may be additional charges for additional services, such as:

  1. Liftgate Service: Hydraulic lift to bring palates from truck level to the ground additional charge approximately $40-50 depending on the company we choose to use. You will need to hand unload your order to avoid this charge.
  2. Inside Delivery: If you request the driver handle the order and bring the boxes inside your home this will also incur additional fees. These charges can vary widely starting at an additional $50 and going up depending on various circumstances. i.e. it will cost much less to have it delivered into the front door of your single family home than up the stairs to your 10th floor condo.
  3. Beyond Remote Point Delivery: Some delivery addresses are deemed beyond remote point. This means that the delivery address is either too far from the closest terminal hub, or the delivery address cannot be reached using standard equipment i.e. your home is built on the side of a mountain with narrow winding access roads. The fees for this are generally approximately $150.

ACCEPTING YOUR DELIVERY/CLAIMING DAMAGE

Please note that any visible damage to the exterior of your packages on this Truck Shipment MUST be noted on the shipping receipt at the time of delivery as "Damaged, Pending Inspection" or Quality Discount Lighting will not be responsible for any damage claims made within the 7 days of shipment receipt. You do not need to open your packages and inspect the items with the driver there. Just make sure that any possible damage to the outside of the boxes i.e. large holes in the box, gashes or punctures, are noted when signing for your package. This will ensure the trucking company will be liable for any damage found upon inspection of the item.
